Jon Rahm has missed the cut after shooting even par for the first two rounds, a second-straight disappointing major championship for Rahm since his defection to LIV Golf from the PGA Tour.
Rahm finished in a tie for 45th at the Masters, 20 shots behind winner Scottie Scheffler.
While it’s “only” two majors, it’s worth noting that Rahm has been a steadily consistent presence at majors throughout his career. In fact, this is the worst two-major stretch Rahm has had since 2018, when he missed the cut at the U.S. Open and Open Championship.
Of course that was sandwiched between a solo fourth at the Masters and a tied-fourth at the PGA Championship. For Rahm to recover and salvage this season, in the middle of his prime years, he’s going to have to finish high up the leaderboard at Pinehurst and Royal Troon.
